BLACK AND MINORITY ETHNIC YOUNG PEOPLE'S PROJECT (BMEYPP)

Summer Activities Programme

The summer activities programme started in 2005 when a group of young men asked if they could go on trips during the summer holidays to alleviate boredom and give them something to do. Vannessa supported them to apply for funding from the Scarman Trust Children Can Do and they planned the trips, made the bookings and publicised the programme to their friends and the wider members.

We have continued to develop a programme of activities every year. The programme has grown and now includes day workshops in arts, music and cooking, and a residential and trips out. We consult with young people to find out what activities they would like to happen and involve them in setting up the activities. We raise funding in order to subsidise the costs and keep the costs affordable for young people.
